What to expect at our recital
We are excited to welcome family and friends to our annual recital! Doors will open at 5:50 PM. Please do not arrive before this time, as dancers and instructors will be using the theatre for final rehearsals and preparations. There are no tickets required—simply come in, find a seat, and enjoy the show while cheering on our amazing dancers!
Audience members are welcome to take photos and videos of their own dancer during the performance. However, please be mindful when sharing images or videos on social media, as some dancers and families prefer not to have their images posted online. We kindly ask that you obtain permission before posting content that includes other dancers.
Light refreshments will be available for purchase before the show and during intermission. We encourage you to invite grandparents, relatives, friends, and supporters of the academy to join us for this special celebration of our dancers’ hard work and achievements. To help everyone enjoy the performance, please silence cell phones during the show, remain seated during performances whenever possible, and save conversations for intermission.
Most importantly, bring your enthusiasm and be ready to clap, cheer, and celebrate our dancers as they take the stage!

If you’re borrowing from the SPAD Wardrobe, your costume or prop will be waiting for you on the costume collection table. Please remember to return it to that table at the end of the show.
How do I do my Hair?
-
Just like always, please keep your hair neat in a bun (unless your teacher has given you a different instruction). You can use pins and a hair net (a donut or bun maker is an option, especially if your hair is short). Make sure all your hair styles are free of stray hairs. Use hairspray or gel to keep your hair tidy and out of your face.
-
See links for a reminder of how to do a ballet bun.

Makeup (optional)
-
As our dance academy ages, I imagine some dancers might enjoy wearing stage makeup. Here’s what’s allowed:
-
Neutral eyeshadow (brown, tan or whites) to highlight your eyes
-
Black eyeliner
-
Black mascara
-
Pink blush to highlight your cheekbones
-
Red lipstick or clear gloss

-
Please take a look at this great article and watch this video for guidance (no foundation or eyelashes are required as we do not have strong stage lights).
